MODEL UNITED NATIONS
MUN conferences are held throughout the world and are attended by thousands of students. They are totally student run, making it an event exclusively for young adults. The conferences are designed to help students improve their debating skills and leadership qualities, fine tune their research skills as well as giving them more confidence with public speaking. They are required to think on their feet and to prepare and argue for their countries about international issues.
At The Lady Elizabeth School the number of students visiting different countries for Model United Nations Conferences is growing each year. Our pupils have been to Poland, Italy, Mexico and Holland.
In 2018, International Schools Partnerships held their first Model United Nations Conference at The Boarding School Alicante. Over 150 students from ISP schools in Mexico, Dubai, The United States of America and Spain debated and voted for resolutions on issues such as: denuclearisation in North Korea, equal education, access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all, cutting all sources of finance for terrorist groups and preventing the production, trafficking and consumption of illegal drugs, just to name a few. It was a fantastic and invaluable event for all participants.
